Ivor Setterfield is a British choral and orchestral conductor.

The founder and artistic director of the celebrated Trafalgar Sinfonia, one of the UK’s most exceptional chamber orchestras, Ivor is also musical director of one of the capital’s largest amateur music institutions, Barts Choir. He regularly conducts large-scale choral and orchestral works at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, and the Barbican, and guest conducts world-class orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Ivor's talent for choral music began early, enjoying a distinguished career as a solo boy treble at St Alban’s Cathedral. He went on to win scholarships to study singing and conducting at both the Royal College and the Royal Academy of Music with Colin Metters and Sir Colin Davis, as well as the great Russian conductors Ilya Musin and Valery Gergiev.

"Setterfield has formidable musical form. But he also has the charisma to transform an arts project" (The Telegraph)

A passion for music communication has seen Ivor embracing wide-ranging and ambitious projects to bring classical music and contemporary works to new audiences. His Rose d’Or-nominated landmark TV documentary series The Singing Estate followed his journey creating, mentoring and training a choir of over 40 residents from the Blackbird Leys estate in Oxford, most of whom had never sung before. The series culminated in a televised concert at the Royal Albert Hall conducted by Ivor and watched by over a million people. Ivor returned to the screens to mentor Drum & Bass star Goldie in the hugely popular BBC series Maestro, and in their follow-up TV show together documenting Goldie’s journey composing a classical piece for the BBC Proms.
